Paperless-ngx is a document management system — a searchable archive for all
your important documents. Scan or upload PDFs, and Paperless automatically OCRs
them (making text searchable), tags them, and organizes them by date and
correspondent. Think of it as a private, searchable Google Drive for your
paperwork.
Login: Go to docs.bvoy.dev and sign in with your
bvoy.dev account via SSO.
There are several ways to get documents into Paperless:
Drag and drop files onto the docs.bvoy.dev home page,
or click the upload button (up arrow icon, top right).
Supported formats: PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF, GIF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, and more.
Drop files into the Archive/Inbox folder in your Nextcloud
account — Paperless automatically imports anything placed there.
This is ideal for documents you receive by email: save the attachment to
Nextcloud from your phone, and it's in Paperless within minutes.
Use a scanning app to photograph physical documents and send them directly to

is also available on Android with the same setup.
Paperless can consume documents forwarded to a specific email address. Ask the
admin if this is set up.
Search is the main interface. The search bar at the top searches full text
(OCR), correspondent names, tags, and document types.
Examples:
bank statement 2024 — finds bank statements from 2024insurance — finds anything tagged or containing the word insurancecorrespondent:chase — finds documents from ChaseFilters (left sidebar):
Paperless uses three classification systems. You can set these manually or let
Paperless auto-assign them based on rules.
| Classification | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Tag | Label for the document | invoice, medical, important |
| Correspondent | Who sent it | IRS, Chase Bank, Landlord |
| Document Type | What kind of document | Invoice, Statement, Contract |
Auto-rules: In Settings → Classification → you can set rules like
"if title contains 'chase', set correspondent = Chase Bank."
