Vaultwarden is a self-hosted password manager compatible with all official
Bitwarden apps. It stores your passwords, passkeys, credit cards, secure notes,
and identity info — all encrypted and under your control.
Login: Vaultwarden uses your bvoy.dev account via SSO. You'll additional
still need to set a master password on first login — this is separate from
your SSO password and is used to encrypt your vault locally. Keep it somewhere
safe; you'll need it regularly.
SSO re-authentication: Your Authentik session expires every 30 days,
or whenever you log in on a new device. When it expires, you'll be prompted to
sign in via SSO again before you can access your vault — this is expected
behavior.
Master password prompt: Your master password is required every time you
fully log in. Set up biometrics or a PIN (covered in each section below)
so day-to-day unlocking only needs a fingerprint or short PIN instead.
The browser extension is the most-used client. It autofills credentials on
websites as you browse.
After installing, you must point the extension at the homelab server — it
defaults to bitwarden.com.

- On the login screen, click "Logging in on" (shows "bitwarden.com")
- Select Self-hosted
- In the Server URL field, enter:
https://vault.bvoy.dev
- Click Save
- Click Log in with SSO → sign in with your bvoy.dev account
- Set your master password when prompted
A PIN lets you unlock the vault quickly without typing your full master password
each time you open the browser.
- Click the Bitwarden icon → Settings → Account Security
- Enable Unlock with PIN
- Enter a PIN (4+ digits) and confirm
- Optionally enable "Lock with master password on browser restart" for

day-to-day:

- Confirm with your biometric when prompted
After this, you'll only need your master password when your 30-day SSO session
expires and you re-authenticate.

- Enable AutoFill
- Make sure Bitwarden is checked in the list
- Optionally disable iCloud Keychain if you want Bitwarden to be the default
