Finding RSS feeds:
- Most blogs and news sites have feeds at
/feed, /rss, or /atom.xml
- YouTube channels:
https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNEL_ID
- Podcasts: paste the podcast's RSS URL directly
- Reddit: add
.rss to any subreddit URL (e.g.
https://reddit.com/r/selfhosted.rss)
- RSSBridge (see below) can generate feeds for sites that don't have one

The homelab runs RSSBridge (internal access only) for
generating feeds from sites that don't have them. You can generate feeds for
Twitter, Instagram, Twitch, YouTube, and many more.
RSSBridge is only accessible from within the homelab network or over VPN.
For YouTube channels, subscribing through RSSBridge's YouTube Feed Expander
bridge is better than pasting YouTube's native feeds/videos.xml URL directly
into Miniflux — it adds embedded video previews to each entry and can filter out
Shorts.
- Find the channel ID (starts with
UC...) — on the channel page, view page
source and search for "channelId", or use a channel ID lookup tool
- Add this as a subscription in Miniflux, replacing
CHANNEL_ID:https://bridge.bvoy.dev/?action=display&bridge=YouTubeFeedExpanderBridge&channel=CHANNEL_ID&hideshorts=on&format=Mrss
- After subscribing, edit the feed in Miniflux and set these Block filter
rules (one per line) to keep the feed clean:EntryURL=/shorts/
EntryTitle=(?i)Bridge returned error
hideshorts=on + EntryURL=/shorts/ filters out Shorts (belt and
suspenders — the bridge parameter does most of the work, the entry filter
catches anything that slips through)
EntryTitle=(?i)Bridge returned error hides the placeholder "article"
RSSBridge generates whenever YouTube's feed endpoint has a transient hiccup
(this happens somewhat often — YouTube rate-limits/flakes on videos.xml
periodically). Without this filter, those hiccups show up as fake unread
articles instead of just silently retrying next poll.
- Full Content: If an article is truncated, click the full content
button (document icon) to fetch the complete article. You can also set this
per-feed: Edit feed → Fetch full content.
- Filtering: Set up filters in feed settings to hide articles matching
certain keywords (e.g. block political content from a news feed).
- Reading time: Each article shows an estimated reading time.
- Bookmarks: Star articles with
s to save them for later — find them under
Starred in the sidebar.
- Browser extension: The
Miniflux Companion browser extension
lets you subscribe to feeds from the browser toolbar.
